What we fit

Eight sizes of wheel, one workshop

The Yass Valley visitor guide describes this shop as covering everything “from a tractor to a pram”, and the boards in the shop window back it up. The same counter that sorts a flat on the Hume takes care of the quad bike, the camper trailer and the tractor.

All work is done on site at Comur Street.

Brands

The brands that actually get used out here

An authorised Maxxis dealer, and a stockist of Cooper, Bridgestone, Mickey Thompson, Toyo, Goodyear, Dunlop, Michelin and BFGoodrich. Alongside them sit the ranges most tyre shops do not carry: Maxam for skid steers, Starmaxx tractor radials and Duro for the quads.

Wheels from BBS and Advanti Racing, batteries on the shelf, and Bare-Co and Sparex parts for the tractor.

All fleet and salary sacrifice welcome.

The shop

Locally owned, and family run

The blue sign on the corner of Comur Street has read Active Ag & Tyre Centre for a long time, and behind the door is a counter, a wall of tyre ranges and a shed out the back with the Maxxis sign on it.

It is a straightforward business. You call, or you walk in, and someone who knows the difference between a steer tyre and a tractor radial talks it through with you. Reviewers keep mentioning advice given over the phone before anyone has agreed to anything.

I really appreciated the service here to get new tyres on a camper trailer. The team were very helpful with advice about the best options over the phone and fitted in the job in on the same day. A++ service. Great to have a quality local business like this. Thanks again!

Lovely service, very prompt, the guys even tried their best to put new tyres on “quietly” as they understand I have a baby slept in the car and they were apologetic about the rattle gun was loud. I thought that was such a warming and genuine care for other people and not just a transactional providing services and taking a payment.
